The show is an ode to the actor's craft and a reflection on the philosophical foundations of an artist's career. The audience is invited to watch three old clowns condemned to review their ethical and aesthetic choices, in an infinite loop of reflection on the resilience of the artist, the urgency of art and the finitude of life. The aesthetic used to stage these issues is performative and attempts to provoke the spectator's perception through the actor's play in dialogue with two technological pillars: the electroacoustic soundtrack and the mapped and audio-reactive video-projections. This clash between the actors' body-voice and the scenographic-technological machinery generates spatial-temporal jumps, abruptly displacing the spectator's attention in an original and instigating show. Farewell, dead clowns premiered in June 2016 and was one of the most important shows on the São Paulo season that year. It ran in two theatres, one at CCSP and another at TUSP, with all shows sold out. In 2017 it ran a season at Sesc Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro. In July of the same year it represented Brazil at the 2017 World Stage Design International Festival, in Taipei, Taiwan. In addition, it was well received by critics as attested by the headline of the UOL entretenimento portal: “Farewell, dead clowns is one of the best plays of the year in São Paulo”; the 4 stars awarded by Veja SP agazine; the 4 stars awarded by Veja RJ magazine; the “excellent” rating in the O Globo newspaper; and the play was chosen as one of the 3 best shows of the year by critics of the newspaper Estadão. The show won the Shell award for best scenario; it also won two categories of the Aplauso Brasil award: best direction and best group show; and was competed for the State Governor Award in the theater category.
